The Ojai Community Demonstration Garden, located next to Ojai City Hall on Ventura Street, is truly a hidden treasure of Ojai. A peaceful walk through the garden will delight the senses while providing an educational, interpretive self-tour demonstrating drought-resistant plants, wildlife habitats, and natural growing methods including composting and an organic vegetable garden.
A primary focus of the garden is waste reduction and water conservation in our own backyards. Semi-annual presentations will demonstrate composting and mulching and how landscapes and productive agriculture can be achieved without the use of toxic chemicals. The garden also offers periodic workshops, given by local horticulturists and arborists, on various topics such as waste reducing, natural pruning methods, low-flow irrigation, and tree maintenance. Upcoming workshop dates are posted on the garden bulletin board.
The Ojai Community Demonstration Garden is a volunteer project of the City of Ojai, and we invite anyone with an interest in gardening, and some time to commit, to participate.
The garden is open to the public every day from dawn to dusk. On site parking is available.
